What Happend to Those Big Plans for 2011?

John Lennon's, Watching the Wheels go Round and Round, is one of my favorite ballads from one of the the great bards of the 20th Century and it definitely sets the tone for this piece.

We all have goals, and most of us set our sights on futures we long to create for ourselves.  So what happens? Why do we get stalled? Well to borrow again from John Lennon, "life happens while you are busy making other plans". Truer words than we ever realized.  Another year is about to close.  Are you happy, sad, fulfilled?  Did you get all you wanted out of it, or did it just slide on by like all the years before it.

This personally has been a fabulous year for me and my family, and I'm kind of sorry to see it go. However, all good things come to pass and now is the time to formulate a game plan for next year.  So are you with me here?  Do you have the resources to set a game plan in order? Of course you do!

Find some place quiet and set realistic goals, i.e, to get published in 2012, instead of being on The New York Times Best Sellers List for thirteen weeks. All though that is a wonderful goal to set for yourself it seems more doable when you focus on the probability scale. How likely is it you will have a best seller vs. how likely you are to publish a book?  When you put your reach for the stars goals into doable tasks you increase your likelihood of success. We know this intuitively also, because we know we have a snowballs chance in hell of having a best seller so we never even step up to the plate to play, but if you aim for getting a book published you are now in the running for winning that best seller spot.

This simple formula for goal setting is often overlooked. People jump right away to envisioning themselves successful, or saying daily affirmations. While these activities have their place, nothing beats a well formulated plan blocked out into doable increments which lead you to where you want to finish which of course is ahead of the game.

I would love to help you formulate a game plan if you think you need some guidance. Email and we can work something out to our mutual benefit.
